Sangla at night!

Was fortunate enough to have a view of snow capped mountains on a full moon night! This time in Sangla...Mt Kinnaur Kailash looked heavenly as it bathed in silver on the eve of Laxmi purnima.

Several in follwing order for me

1) Frozen Tsomogo lake in a clear moon light. (This was just a dream. Photo was shot in the morning.)
2) River valley of spiti river.
3) Pangong with the mountains in the backdrop.
4) Nothing like snow capped peak of course.

Best Mountain Scenes

I do agree that snow clads peaks are wonderful. I have seen some of them on my way to Amarnath, Gomugh glaciers et. But when you see the high mountains with thick forests and rivulets and rivers rushing down I felt that it was more beautiful as there is a lot for the eyes. The snow clad peaks reflecting sunlight looks magnificent but there is a small element of monotony in it.In the Himalayas there are ranges with forest coverage; huge trees and thick forest.A trek to Dodital Lake in the Himalayas is a wonderful experience. May be the aerial vie of snow clad peaks may be different and i did not get chance

My favourites:

1) View of Kachenjunga and Goe-Chala pass from the hillock behind the trekkers hut in Thangsing (Sikkim). Photos are in my blog.

2) View of Mt. Pandim from a meadow near the Dzongri top.

3) Reflection of Machapuchre and the Annapurna range on the Pokhara lake.

4) Peaks around Auli in Winter

among many many others...

Hi Rob,
You can trek Sandakphu and Phalut region. I like darjeeling as you do. Infact i call it my second home. I will suggest Sandakphu and Phalut because there you can see Mt.Everest, Mt. Kanchedzongha, Mt.Pandim, Mt. Makalu,Mt.Lohtse and Nuptse and many other snow caped Himalayan peak in your 180 degree vision. Try to go there in mid of November for clear sky. After the trek you can take rest at Darjeeling like we did.

If you want to enjoy the whole route it will take 10 days in my opinion and you don't have to go darjeeling to cover this. From New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri you can straight go to Manebhanjan via Ghoom on the way to Darjeeling where the trek begins. Only I can say it's a treker's paradise. I am also in banking industry like you and I can suggest you if you want to trek this region don't think twice. Any help or suggestion needed I am always there.
