Isnt Holi too early for a 5000m+ pass??
You have to cross 2 passes, Taintu ka Jot and Manali pass..

I believe he means the village named Holi in the Ravi valley.

Tentugiri & Manali Passes are do-able in July Aug Sep.

All the agents are in Manali. So you will have to hire someone in Manali ... ferry them all by bus... and then start from village Holi.

I know quite a few agents, but cannot really recommend anyone.

Indian standards and Western standards of trekking differ quite a bit.

Also, the level of trekking infrastructure in India is not as good as Nepal.

Many westerners want "Western standards" at Indian prices, Our IMer vinayverma reported a really bad experience after he recommended his favourite horse-walla porter to another member on IndiaMike.

Lightbulb Tentu in Holi

It surely is possible to do the whole trek in march ...but no tour operator will run it for you ..i suggest you do it on your own Alpine style ...also carry a pair of good snow shoes / touring skis..will help u complete the trip much faster...

cheers

Do you know anyone who has crossed over Tentu Pass in March? It would be a proper mountaineering expedition. Not do-able by ""trekkers"".... even with ""snow shoes and touring skis"". Its not exactly a ski slope.

Tentu Not Possible-not Safe In March

Avid was right and please take him seriously what he is saying about TENTU PASS. This could be a mountaineering expedition to crossover this pass in MARCH. Although snowfall this year was very very below normal but high altitude and CWM of TENTU is still getting snow.

This is a steep pass which requires hardware to cross over in moderate snow...MARCH is too early and certainly NOT SAFE.

You can get agencies in MANALI ( Again AVID is right but if you atr talking with some real good people-they should NOT TAKE YOU ).

CHAMBA is so small a town to get a good agency...
