Tents
Does anyone have firsthand experience of locally made tents in Delhi? As in bought - not rented?
Lafuma's Alpine tent - which I have used on a winter trek last year, and found to be very good - sells for a cool 10.8 K at Adventure 18. Their summer tent is 3.9 K, but i'm not sure a summer tent is any good on any high altitude hike. Carabin, Stikage, Kamet etc make their own tents. Only, am not sure how they would compare against the imported ones. Hence the post. |

I tried my camptown tent during the DDK Pass trek...the damn thing was so easy to pitch but would not hold its own against a rain. We had to use Rachit's Poncho as a cover between the outer fly and the tent body. Keeping its ease of pitching factor in mind...it would have been mindblowing to get one that holds against rains...may be the variety that I have isnt rain proof |

And the link u've posted Chitrang, doesn't work...is there any other contact info?
BTW we've used Carabin's tents for camping upto 15000ft...on the way to leh(we camped comfortably at pang)...quite decent...we've had them for almost 8 years now...and they are still going strong! |

@mandrake: try this enw link ..if you still have problem try www.camptowm.co.kr and look for BJ 350 Model
http://camptown.co.kr/index_item_vie...0 3929-000028 @Ashu..which model u have BJ 315 or BJ 350 ...before buying we did researched about the camptown products ..what we have seen @ Rakesh/Gaurav place is BJ 315 model which has fibre pole /light weighted and no rain fly...what we saw on web is that their is a better model BJ 350 which has dura-aluminium poles and a full flier more heavy so i guess this can save from rains..but still i have tried those..alternatively we purchased two ground sheets for outside and inside of tent.. |

Thanks, all.
@Mandrake...Thanks for sharing your experience with Carabin. It could be that the tents they sell are far better than the tents they rent out. In your experience, did they serve you well in wet conditions? @Chits...did you buy your camptown gear online? |

Lafuma's tents which are available in Delhi are made in China with Lafuma stamp. Its better to buy Indian Make so that repair or after sales service is available
