Hello, I'm planning to do this classic trek in early october, I read all the posts about it but I still need some help.
I will travel alone and even if I'm an experienced trekker and climber I'm thinking about hiring a guide, where it's better to hire him, in Uttarkashi or in Gangotri?
I'm thinking about 4 days for the whole trek, which is the best itinerary?
Can you get the trekking permit in Gangotri?

arrange guide in uttarkashi- he should be of help to procure permit at uttarkashi...thats where permit is issued

how can i find a porter cum guide in uttarkashi. do you have any contacts. iam not interested in going with any agency.

I'm not going with agencies too, where is the best place to find guides in Uttarkashi? I don't want to wast time with people that want to take advantage of foreigners.
If somebody knows a good one please let me know.
