I have gone through your blog. To me it seems that Har Ki Dun is not possible. Probably I will head for Chopta -Tunganath- Chandrashila area. I had seen the photos in your blog. Just wanted to know as to whether I will meet fellow travellers on my way. Is is possible for any one to go solo without any help of any guide. Are there any risk ? I mean, whether one is reqd. to cross some jungle. what about wild life? Can this area be visited in the month of Jan. Pls. let me know in general about the accomodation in Chopta, Rudraparayag, August Muni

Any info is welcome as it is an unplanned visit just about to be taken.

Please take alongsome guide...even if it is an easy Chopta-Tungnath trek. If anyhting bad happens, it is very difficult to get out if you are alone. Even though the path till chandrashila is pretty well marked, not many ppl will be there nowadays. of course, i expect adventure loving guys to be there, trying to scale chandrashila in the winters, but still, there is a very real possibility of having hardly anyone there. so take a guide/driver along who knows the area well.

there will be some wild life (but not dangerous). so be quick to react with your camera. you can do it 12 months across the year..but climbing the snow might be a bit tough. but hey, it is the challenge that drives us all and the snow clad white carpet view will make it more fun and beautiful.
