Hi,
has anyone been to these places? I somehow seem to have missed them. I would like to know how tough is it to go from Sundardhunga to these high altitude lakes. (and I am talking about January) also, another thing was coming to my mind. After dhakuri pass, there is a descent to khati. why descend? i was thinking of following the ridge all the way up..till ..let us say 4000 m. has anyone tried that? and where all can i find touilets on that route? i guess i will have them in dhakuri and khati. what about the rest?

You can go to these high kunds as Bengauli trekkers are regulars here but in Jan.....I do not think so.
Yes- you can follow that ridge which starts from small temple..but it does not take you to KUND. |

[size="2"]Hi Almoraboy,
Your blog was helpful to me as I had been to Milam this June. I have heard a lot from Mr. Ganga about you visting the place just after you wedding. I can relate to you. You and me seem to share the same passion - Trekking. Post your recent pics. I just love the trek of Pindari I have done twice and feel like going again. I have official off from 24th to 27th of Jan. I intend to leave on 24th night and return back on 28th morning to Delhi. Can you please suggest me some short trek which would take me to approx 4000mtrs. Pls. let me know as to whether this kind of trek is possible. I have Dodital in my mind. You can let me know as to how is the weather there in Uttranchal at present. In Delhi, at the moment we are facing chilly wind. I was in Chandigarh day before yesterday and it was raining. So one can only assume that there must be snowfall in most of the region of Uttranchal at such a height. Suggest some trip which I can plan out in Uttranchal or in North Western Himachal for the duration /SIZE]. |

hi there,
a bit tired, so give me soem time to post it. yes, i had the good luck to check out the snowfall, but then came back from dhakuri, as it was pretty ehavy. ithappened for 3 days in a row across the pindar river. i tried out chilta mai temple and chilta bugyals above dhakuri khal. i think u can reach upto 3500 metres over there. also, the snow there was almost between waist and knee deep in some places. so do not try to go higher than that. it will be tooo tough. but i had a nice time in the chilta bugyals. the views were awesoem after the snowfall, as the sky was absolutely clear and you could see uptil api in nepal. it also rained in almora on the way back..so expect even more snow in the higher reaches |

That is really exciting. I would be going to Pindari later on. For the time being can you suggest me some other short trek so that I can explore other area for two or three days. I am thinking of going to 3500-4000mtrs. Are you still in southern part of India?
A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AS WELL |

Try Chandrshila Winter trek
Much has been discussed on the route elsewhere in this forum I guess. ...on the Chopta-Tunganath- Chandrshila trail. Also I saw some recent pics of people having done Har-Ki-Doon in December..in fact already heard of 3 such groups....I would assume it to be a possibility...but would require longer days and better preparation. Dodital is also a possibility ...but I dont think you shall be able to do the Darwa top. But even Doditaal covered in snow is an amazing experience. Quote:

hey, if u r loking for chopta-tungnath-chandrashila, i have it on my blog. very easy. i am sure ity can be done in winter also. otherwise, if u want, u can do chilta top (near dhakuri) very easily in 3 days. u can keep the other days for travelling till and returning from saung.
