Suggestions for trek in mid-January?
Dear all,
We are a group of four friends (two couples) who want to trek in either Himachal or Kumaon in mid-January. We want a snow experience but not really expedition-level. My questions: a) IS it possible? Our earlier trekking experiences include Harkidun, Roop Kund (couldn't make it all the way due to ice), Chandrashila, Madhyamaheshwar, etc (all easy treks, not really tough ones, but we are passionate about our love for the mountains) b) We have a four-man tent, good shoes (North Face, gore-tex), walking sticks. We have never had to use an ice axe. b) If yes, where would you suggest closest to the big peaks? Is Beas Kund doable in mid-January? What about Nanda Devi sanctuary? Please advise. regds |
