| Hi all, I am fazed by this situation in which I now have free time till 18th. And free time starts right now...and i have to be in Bombay on 18th for sure. Now such unexpected vacations has left nothing for me to do so i am planning to move out somewhere. I have lots of days so please suggest and suggest...I prefer trekking uphills but if that isn't possible then suggest other locations also....I know the replies will pour in. Thanks for reading. |

| It may help some readers to know your stated location of Panchkula is in Haryana, and a satellite city of Chandigarh, if I'm not mistaken. For starters: What area(s) were you thinking of? Do you mean to move your way towards Mumbai, or...?

| Its goes like this that I am in IIT Kanpur right now ..I study there..but i have to be at Bombay on 18 th for some personal work..and then after that i go back to Chandigarh...so Chandigarh is out of the equation..I am a beginner of sorts with my max trekking period is that of 2 days..and i have been to uttaranchal and HP alike but all below 5000 mts..so i would like to improve more on that this time..and moving toward mumbai is also a good option if i get something beautiful to see that side.. |

| 1) Trek from Uttarkashi to Dodital. No of days : 4. It can be extended till Yamunotri, but I guess yamunotri will be inaccessible now during winter. 2) Chandrashila top. No of days of days : 4. You can take the route from Duggal Bitta - Deoria Tal - Chopta - Tunganath - Chandrashila. I guess you might find snow in both the routes, ofcourse during midway Chandrashila. So hire a good trekking agency. And Im sure you will have memories of lifetime. |

| Destination is just the begining of journey | Hi Rahul, First of all, this time don't try to improve upon your 5000 mts experience, coz. the month is December . Lots of knee height or more snow will be awaiting for u.Chardham (Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath) are closed now. Deoria Tal-Chopta-Tunganath-Chandrashila, Har-ki-Doon, Dodital etc. or some trek to Sikkim like Menam La Wild Life Sanctuary, Sandakphu, Barsey Rododendhron Sanctuary etc. should be preferable. But keeping your current location in mind, I personally suggest, Tunganath-Chandrashila. Best of luck. |

| Altair Explorer | Try Dayara Bugyal near Uttarkashi....start from Barsu Village to Dayara and then and come down at Raithal. You need to be prepared for snow conditions though.(Thats true for Chopta-Tunganath- Chandrashila as well). It little explored but a photographer's delight. |
