Sikkim in july
Hello,
I plan to do tracking in Sikkim for about one-two weeka from 8-th something July. I know that it is raining season but I’ve heard that when you are up in mountains its not very bad actually. Can you give me any advice where to track better, which part of Sikkim this time, and any recommendation where to find the organization that will take care of tracking tour so I can join some groups or so? Thank you. |

Before you plan too much, please first check the status of the ongoing general strikes in the Darjeeling region which has also affected movement in and out of Sikkim. Hopefully it will be peaceful by July.

When you are up in the mountains of Sikkim rain does matter so July isn't a good time. Becareful of leeches.

well, ethnically neither people are "indian". both are of mongoloid stock. you will find more english speakers in either place compared to "mainland" india.
sikkim is more hilly and has more altitude and better sights (mountain lakes and all) to my mind. but still shillong isnt bad at all. i dont know what meghalaya has to offer in terms of trekking. politically - yes they are different and the present problems in north bengal (darjeeling) should have no bearing in meghalaya. |

july is a good time to visit leh. how do you propose to go there ?? however if you want to see the whole of ladakh it would take about 2 weeks. ladakh is also a tad costlier than other indian places.
