short easyish trek in HP

Hi folks

can anyone recommend a 2-3 day group trek for two reasonably fit twenty-something himachal newbies at the beginning of may?

we've both been travelling to various parts of the world etc and done 3-day treks in thailand, but nothing too strenuous. we'd like to avoid the overpopulated areas if possible. the main reason we want to do it is for the scenery and people.

hope someone can help

cheers

I would recommend u set out in partvati valley and trek ahead of Bardshaini./.. a 'few days' would mean that you reach at least Pamdupulm which is an awsome mindbending place...

mine started here too... the road ahead of manikaran was under construction and we trekked to Tosh... took us 3 days to get there... :-) that was 1997... how time flies

Does any one remember the old chopper wreck near Thakurkuan...??? Sheesh, i wish i had brought along a souvenir...

u can opt for Chandratal trek.....its the source of river chandra, later which mixes with bhaga river to form the chnadrabhaga(chenub). its accessible from manali. quoting a touring & trekking site...
"A drive over the Rohtang Pass and Baralacha-la (4950 m) and 2-3 days of moderate trek takes you to Chandratal , one of the most beautiful lakes in the region. This moon shape lake changes color from orange to blue to green as the day passes."

the tour planner can be...

Day 1: Manali-Keylong :
Drive to Keylong 115 km crossing over the Rohtang pass (3987 mt) and checkin at the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Keylong-Baralacha-la :
Drive to Baralacha (4950 mt) 80 km and Camp for overnight

Day 3: Baralacha-Tokpo Gongma :
Trek 4-5 hrs which is well defined, along river banks & crossing streams to Tokpo Gongma (4650 mt).

Day 4: Tokpo Gongma - Tokpo Yogma :
Trek 6-7 hr to Tokpo Yogma (4350 mt). Camp for overnight stay.

Day 5: Tokpo Yogma - Chander Tal:
Trek 4-5 hrs to along wild flowers to Chandertal (4250 mt) and camp for overnight stay

Day 6: Chandertal :
Day at rest to explore around the lake

Day 7: Chander Tal - Batal :
Trek 4-5 hrs to Batal, cross over the Batal bridge and arrive at the camp site for overnight stay.

Day 8: Batal-Manali :
Drive to Manali 120 km and overnight stay in hotel.

as u r touring Himachal Pradesh.... i am sure u r not missing manali. (no doubt its the best place to be in HP) and of course rotang pass.... so plan accordingly to go over rotang to keylong(fine place) and then to chandratal.

happy trekking
