Yes Tungnath & Chandrashila (above Tungnath can be done in winter.
You could also trek to Deoria Tal & Karthik Swami, which has excellent views of Chaukhamba. |

Any place in Himalaya would require at least a day to reach by road and another day to come back. After that you can have treks that take anywhere between 3 days to 6 days for a short trek of say 20-30 Kms one way or 30-50 Kms for a traverse. there are of course treks that are of 15 Kms distance one way...like Tunganath... More details can be fed with exact requirement |

Trekking - How difficult (easy?) can it be?
Hi everyone,
I'll be in India during the month of October and after landing in Delhi I aim to start my trip in the Northern region of Uttarakhand (It's actually where I plan to stay most of the time). I'll first start in Kumaon(Almora/Jageshawar/Binsar) and then to Garwal (Haridwar/Rishikesh). One of the things that attracts me the most in those places is their natural beauty, and I see that tons of treks are available around there. My question is: how difficult can it be to trek? I'm in my mid 20's and I'm quite OK but not a sports hot shot. From the treks' description it is quite difficult to understand if by going I'm undertaking a walk in the park or an out-of-my-league challenge. Any advice on easy nature treks in Uttarakhand? I read about the Char Dam treks (Yamunotri seems ok) and the Pindari Glaciar (that seems quite difficult). Thanks a lot for your help. It's a thrill to see such a genuine community of people helping each other! Daniel |
