Hi Bhavin,

as i said earlier, we will be going in group of 4/5(1 person yet to finalise) from kolkata. our tour Itinerary are as follows:-

2/6/07 - leaving kolkata for delhi
3/6/07 - reaching delhi and proceed for Rishikesh
4/6/07 - rishikesh to joshimath
5/6/07 - joshimath to badrinath
6/6/07 - day free at badrinath for acclimatisation
7/6/07 - trek starts
8/6/07 to 12/6/07 - trek and back to badrinath
13/6/07 - return to rudra prayag or srinagar
14/6/07 - hardwar
15/6/07 - Train at night from hardwar for kolkata
16/6/07 - train
17/06/07 - kolkata

after reaching Satopanth taal if we see we can go upto surajkund and also if days available (we have to reach Hardwar on 15th by 7pm)then we will approach Surajkund. our main concern is ice patches, as this year winter extended till march. if your mother wants to join us she can join us but you have inform us in advance, number of porters will be decided on that basis (we have a fixed guide who join us when we trek at uttranchal region) and also we will be carrying our ration, utensils, tents from kolkata. my e-mail id is rolling_25@yahoo.co.in if your mother wants to join us, i would request you to kindly send us the details.

thanks and regards,

somenath

PS :- any suggestions about the Itinerary/tour are welcome.

Dear Bhavin

Don't be under the misconception that no one gets into Altitude related problems. You climb too fast, and you'll get it. Your mother is no exception. AMS is not a disease but a sympton. Take care on this before you send your mother.

Arjun

Mana-Satopanth-Mana in 1 Day

Hallo,

I've been reading around the forum but couldn't understand:
Can one do Mana-Satopanth-Mana in 1 Day?
If so- how much time should it take?

If not- there is an option for dhaba night stay along the way and at the lake? or one should carry tent?
and how many days and KM from Mana to Satopanth?

Thanks!

dear niro...mana to satopanth tal distance is 25km(one side).the route is pretty tough and you need atleast 5/6 days to complete the trek(mana to mana).there are no dhabas or sort in between and so carrying a tent is must.from your message it seems that you have no idea of this route or himalayan trekking.this is a hard trek and it is better you find some experienced partners if you want to do this trek.

Hi,
You need to study much more about the trek. You need to be ready in all aspects of camping before you move on the trail and do read about acc if you are new.

You might face some rain in the lower altitude. otherwise it would be more beautiful

otherwise it would be more beautiful with flowers. I don't think there is any other problem. may be overwhelming number of pilgrims.

I don't know after that any one had tried to find the route or not. but crossing the Shipton peak and reach Madmaheshwar was tried many times I think.
Do You have any record / article / source to conclude that "MANY TIMES SHIPTON PEAK IS CLIMBED / CROSSED / TRIED & AND AT LEAST ONE (Except the people from Martin Moran Group while climbing the Nilkantha and VishnuGad peaks in 2000) INDIAN / any more Foreign TEAM REACHED MADMAHESWAR THROUGH THAT?????

To my knowledge & belief; the Shipton peak is named on that (Martin Moran) expedition itself in 1998. And No other team so far climbed the Shipton's Col & the Peak after that. And the Panpatia Col is crossed by Moran's team in 2000 (vide IMF report of 2000 expedition Garhwal sec. - Nilkantha Expdn.) And IMF put is as the first recorded crosing of Panpatia Col. That time they came through Khirao vill. not crossing Shipton's Col / Satopanth Col. So far no team had tried that route mean Satopanth Tal - Satopanth Col - Panpatia Col - Sujal Sarovar - Madmaheswar.

Please provide some light. Because there is going to be a high altitude trekking in that route to record the first Indian crossing of the Panpatia Col. As well as a new route which could be that origianl mythological route. Anindya thought of the Khirao village and lower reach of Panpatia Gl. but may be it was the swargarohini to reach the Kedar to Badri. S if someone has already done that route. then there is no question of that expdn.

I don't have that article. I only read the two travelogues of Anindya Mukherjee published in Bhraman...My knowledge about this particular route is limited only to whatever written in that two articles. The name of those two articles are "Choukhambha-r padodeshe" and "Prabad Pother Sondhane"....And it seems that you are a experienced mountaineer...therefore your knowledge must be far more accurate than my knowledge. S, sorry I can't help you in this context any more.
But tell me r u a member of the forthcoming Neelkanth Expedition team (In May-June, 2007)of the HImalayan Club, Kolkata chapter?

No I am not the Himalayan Club member. I don't like their restriction. But quite a lot of members know me very well. may be you are misunderstanding me with Debabrata Ghosh of Siliguri. I am Debabrata Mukherjee. Ex-leader IMF National team 2005. This year will be participating some expeditions conected wit some high altitude trekking. (which I generally don't chance to participate).
Do you know anyone called Sudeshna? She told me of her cousin from Delhi going to Satopanth Tal. Ru going alone?

R u talking about Sudeshna from Kalyani? I know her. I was planning to go Satopanth. But I don't get enough leave from my office for a trip to Satopanth. So, I have planned to trek to Kedar Tal and yes alone. Do you know Goutam from Triveni? He is in the Neelkanth Expedition team and he is comming to Delhi on 16thth instant.
