Smile Satopanth Tal Completed Successfully

Hi All,
I'm back from Satopanth Tal trekking. Lots of good and bad experiences. Weather was mostly cloudy, but God gifted us 2 beautiful days to watch majestic Neelkanth and Satopanth Tal with Choukhamba. We have to cut down the VoF shedule coz. of my friends illness. He didn't make to Satopanth Tal and returned back from Chamtoli (our first camp). I completed it in 4 days in hurry being worried for my friend waiting at Badrinath. Some points:

1. Laxmivan has been flooded partly last year. So now you can't camp under the bhuj trees anymore. You have to camp at upper Laxmivan.

2. Also the bridge in Mana to cross the river has been gone during the flood. It caused by the sudden break of Vanglung glacier which is in front of Laxmivan.

3. We crossed the Alakananda river over a Ice Skeliton created by a falls before Vasudhara falls.

4. I found lots of flowers in Chamtoli bugiyal and in Chakrateerth.

Well, I just returned today. I'm trying to upload the snaps as soon as possible.

@solo
end of May and first of June is the earliest for Satopanth. But now a days weather became very unpredictable. We got mostly cloudy and rainy weather as mansoon hit earlier.

@avid

Hi,

Thanks Somnath and Almoraboy.

I've just managed to upload pics. Yet to add tags and logs. You can check http://satopanth.blogspot.com

You know a 14 days leave from office makes tons of tensions after returning from trek .

Anyway, I'm trying to complete the blog as soon as possible.

Thanks for congratulating. Also thanks for your thread "Satopanth-Swargarohini Trek Completed" coz. I collected lots of information from that thread. Yah, now is much green grassy fields. I saw your pics in Webshots Outdoor, I think you got a little better weather than me.

I saw 2 saints staying there but they told they will return after another 30-40 days. but the main room made with rock and cement was locked, there was no saint there.

I'm not saying that Satopanth Taal (16000 ft. approx) in October is not possible, but chance of fresh snowfall is very very high and continuing on snow on that route will be quite tough.

If possible try to pre-pone your schedule at end of September of first week of October.

I will recommend that you make a call at this number 09412966171. This is the number of Mannu Rawat, our guide and probably the best guy for Satopanth. He is a local of Mana village and can tell you the exact situation in October. You can refer my name to him as "Roy Sahab" and he will help you as much as possible that's for sure.

Thumbs up Thanks for sharing.

Wow Supratim, lovely photographs. That flower (your top ranking one) looks amazing. I don’t think I’ve seen any picture of this flower – spectacular !!!! And the glacier Lake is also a great pic.
Thanks buddy, thanks for sharing your photographs
