Sarahan-Wangtu

Has anyone done the Sarahan-Wangtu trek? Could I just pop into a travel agency/tour guide place in Shimla and arrange to have someone take me on the trek? It's supposed to be 1) easy, 2) beautiful - and one agent I wrote to said they don't "club" people together. So if I don't have anyone to go with but still would like to see this part of India, what should I do?

Post on the "Travel partners" forum??

A humble suggestion: The Pin Bhaba route seems very popular with foreigners [too popular for my liking... with 12 to 25 trekkers crossing it every day or every alternate day in the season...]. If you scout around in Shimla for partners on the Pin Bhaba route... you might get some travel partners. convince them to do the Sarahan to Wangtu leg with you... and you have yourself a trip fixed and proper!!

Thanks! You've made some very helpful suggestions. Hope I can do the same for someone for, say, Sikkim.

Hi

Hi,
To do the Sarahan to Wangtu walk ...First I dont really think you need a guide. second you wont find anyone in Shimla to arrange things .. I mean you would but be ready to pay out of your nose ... third if you think you do need a porter/guide the temple guest house in Sarahan is the best place to arrange ... its a four/five day walk and each night is spent at a rest house ... dont go booking the rest houses ..just walk in ... A local guide/porter from Sarahan should cost approx 300INR ... and yes it is a very good walk .. pristine...

Cheers,
Dhananjay
