Sandakphu - Phalut in December Last Week

Hi There,

We are 3 friends planned to trek Sandakphu – Phalut range in between 25th to 31st December, 2007. Our projected route is as follows –
25th December – Manebhanjan
26th December – Tonglu / Tumbling
27th December – Kalapokhri
28th December – Sandakphu
29th December – Phalut
30th December - Rammam
31st December – Rimbik

We are all physically fit and have confidence to get it done if weather is not a constraint. Now there are few doubts and your valued help will be highly appreciated –
1. COST – Can you estimate it including a guide/potter, hotel fare, foods etc? (We tried to book DGHC trekkers hut from Kolkata but they refuse to take booking due to some repairing work!)
2. WEATHER – What temperature we can expect. Will we get snowfall or ice all the way?
3. ACCESSORIES – Is it necessary to carry a sleeping bag during that time? If so, will we get it from Manebhanjan and in what cost? Will it be alright to trek using ordinary sports shoe?
4. MISCELLANEOUS – Is it mandatory to take a guide/potter during the entire route or can we arrange them whenever we need? If you have any better ideas please don’t hesitate to share it with us.
