raj !
You are too early for this trek. I did this in JUNE 1998 and it was a total mountaineering expedition as me and my brother climbed with ICE and ROPE from KALUA BINAYAK. I have still picture of our descending from that slope where only a BELL is visible of a temple

NOTE DOWN THE WEATHER and HEAVY SNOWFALL !

Roopkund should be approached very carefully... & I must add respectfully too. Many trekkers have got in to serious situation here.

September is perfect.

If there is no early snow, and you don't mind shorter sunlit days, 1st 2 weeks of October have the CLEAREST weather. Last 2 weeks [Oct] you will risk fresh snowfall.

We are doing this trek in mid June. But we have full group of 6 pax and our ground floor agents and realiable guy from Adventure Trekking Ltd, we have book with them.

Last year we did this trek in same time we reach to mystery lake at 12 noon and back at 3 pm to Bhogubasa.

You need atleast 100 meter rope with caribeeners, sailing rope harness and jumbar etc.. ice exe should be with u.

You can do it easily if you have good gear and really one thing special that you have a very very experience guy with you who can handle all the oppurchuntey at right time.

If you like you can hire guide porters etc. from Mundoli and can hire trekking gear either from Rishikesh or Joshimath etc.

Well we are going to trek, hope to see you on the way....

Cheers

Tom

Sorry friends !

I do not suggest to try this in JUNE. You can do this with mountaineering gear but not everyone and it is not safe for some !!

I agree with Himadventures..their's only one thing more dangerous then a over ambitious trekker on the mountain..and thats an over ambitious guide.

In case you HAVE to go in June..make sure you go with the right guide and with the best facilities..dont compromise on the people and the money. Roopkund is not your regular 'easy to moderate' trek. Its best to go with a agency with whom you have travelled before. There would be plenty of snow at the heights and the wind can turn in to a blizzard without a warning.

Take good care!
