Oh, I didn't mean the cost.
I meant ruining the ecology, atmosphere and my peace of mind. |

joshimath-badri-haridwar
in 2003,i went on a road trip to badri kedar with 3 other friends in a self driven maruti zen during july(in sawaan as per hindu calender).
we had just completed our postgraduations( we all are doctors). in one day- we started from joshimath at around 4 am, went to badrinath and later turned back. we drove all the way to haridwar ,taking turns driving- till 4 am next morning. we were on the roads for 24 hours !!! but we had to do it as we were slated to join our residencies and did not have a single day to spare. i do not advise it to any one we were all driving buffs with pretty long hill driving to our credits so we got there. we were stopped at atleast two places by the police and were told that driving on those roads was not allowed during night, but we somehow persuaded them to let us go. i would suggest a more relaxed trip . |

I have been to Badrinath six times between 1990 and 2002. The earliest bus from Rishikesh to Badrinath is 5.30 a.m. The bus normally takes night halt at Joshimath. If I remember correctly, the bus will commence its onward journey to Badrinath at 7.30 a.m. (first gate). However, on return journey, the bus leaves Badrinath at 5.30 a.m. and reaches Rishikesh at around 6.00 p.m. on the same day.
Though belated response, I thought I must share this for the benefit of tourists in the current season. Sadanand |

I have been to badrinath and the bus I took was 4 am from rishikesh, and we reached badrinath at around 5 pm the same day..
However for the return journey the first bus was at 6 am from badrinath and reached rishikesh late in the evening... |

Things must have changed now. In one of my trip to Badrinath, I remember when the bus to Badrinath was stopped at check post soon after Rishikesh and allowed to proceed only after dawn.
