Recommendations for Dec day hikes in Uttaranchal

I and my wife are going to be in the vicinity of Uttaranchal (in Hardwar) to see my parents and are looking to do some day hikes/short treks in Uttaranchal. Would love any advice and suggestions.

Likes/Dislikes:
- Our ideal scenario is to stay in lodges/hotels at night, instead of carrying tent etc.
- Depending upon elevation change - our usual range is between 10-15 miles per day.
- Don't mind some snow, but are not looking for snow/ice adventure.
- Seriously prefer to be on our own, rather than hire a guide. Privacy and solitude greater factor than the cost of guide.
- It is the nature and tranquility that interests us, and we would rather avoid the religious interface, if possible.

My parents suggest starting out at Uttarkashi. Joshimath/Aoli also look good on the web. However, it sounds like muti-day camping/trekking are the only real options.

We'd very much appreciate more input and look forward to your responses.

Kavindra !

Thats was best option given by jyotipg.
We are sure you will love your experience of watching Himalayas from here.
Joshimath and Auli are over crowded and filled with touts.
As you described in your post-you will be with wife and wants some peace and scenic place.

BINSAR SANCTUARY IS ULTIMATE !

Thank you so much for your replies. I am collecting information for both Binsar and Jyotipg. If anyone has any hotel recommendations - it'd be highly appreciated.

Best regards,

kavindra
