Recent conditions for Trekking in Uttarakhand?

Just wondering what the weather and trail conditions are like in Uttarakhand at the moment? Right now stuck in Kaza, had planned to do some trekking around here but the roads and trails are mess and it doesn't look like it will change for a while. I hiked up to the peak above Kaza around 4600 m and the last hour was thigh deep snow. Between the landslides and the snow I'd say any trekking here is out for a few weeks at leas. So when the road to Manali I think I may take the opportunity to get out and work my way over to Uttarakhand. But don't want to run in to the same problems there. Anyone in the region know the latest info on trail conditions there? Thanks.

Well, depending on which road opens first, you shud try to exit via Kinnaur. Better connections to UA - you can even catch a bus from Thiog or Sawra/Hatkoti right into the Tons Valley , Yamuna Valley even. Otherwise, Shimla is well connected.
From Manali, you wud still have to head to Shimla, or change at Chandigarh or Ambala.

From what I understand..any place 14000 ft and above right now would be in deep snow, Uttarakhand included....

if your trekking target is below that altitude (in Uttarakhand there are several places that are) then you are in safe grounds

I am sure you have already heard about the 6 casualties in Kalindikhal trek last week due to heavy snowfall

Ideally I'd like to but that road sounds like it is bad shape from what I hear, and more than likely the road to Manali will open first. I don't want to be stuck waiting for bus service to resume to Kinnaur, and eventually have to give up and higher a jeep on my own out to Manali as all the tourist will be leaving as soon as any road opens.

Yeah, it seems like there are many more lower altitude treks around there than here, which is why I thought it might be a better option. Anyone have any recent first hand knowlege?
