planning to trek Kalindi Khal in may end
I am planning to trek kalindikhal from gomukh side. Can somebody please tell me where can I get the inner line permit for the trek?
Also is it possible to trek it in early june? I alongwith three of friends are going there. As an alternate we'r planning for Rupsu valley trek in ladakh. Any body has any information on the trek? |

Kalindi Khal becomes crossable by normal trekkers in early July in a normal year. This year it has snowed heavily as late as 15th March. Hence the snow melt will take a longer time. Some are saying that due to excessive heat, snow is also melting very fast. In any case, it is advisable to cross Kalindi Khal after July 1st week to be on the conservative side.
Rupsu trek in ladakh is possible now itself if you're flying into Leh. If you are going by road then you have to wait till the Manali Leh road opens up for traffic, which is expected around 20th May.

Only non-Indian citizens need ILP's. If the area requires a Restricted Area Permit for Indian citizens, u will get it from the SDM, Uttarkashi-Bhatwari. If he's not at one location, he's at the other. But better not to try at Bhatwari unless you know for a fact that he's there. At Uttarkashi the DM can still give it if the SDM is unavailable.

Thanks 'Dilliwala'. Our this year's plans so far are trekking Rupsu valley in Ladakh early june. Will trek Kalindi khal next year definitely.
Actually I have gone until Nandan van twice. Returned from there because I was not prepared. Next time I'll cross that pass anyhow. It seems you trek a lot. Please suggest some interesting treks in Garhwal. Thanks again. Pradeep |
