Planning for VOF

I am needing help with dates to book bungalows on the gmvnl website. If I leave Delhi on the Aug 24 to head for VOF, which towns should I book a bungalow for, and on which dates?
Thanks so much for any advice!!!!

Dates will depend upon which mode of conveyance you are using for Delhi-Haridwar-Joshimath. Presuming that you leave Delhi for Haridwar on Aug 24 by night train, you will reach Haridwar early morning on Aug 25. A bus from Haridwar (or Rishikesh) will take you to Joshimath by evening. I also take it that you will trek Hemkund as well. In that case, the booking of GMVN Rest Houses will be :

August 25 at Joshimath
August 26, 27 and 28 at Ghangaria
August 29 at Joshimath.

hiya...
there are scores of small hotels in ghanghria catering to the sikh pilgrims... one small piece of advice - do not pick a hotel room which is on the main alleyway (or path if u say so)...
the reason...? well, the jaththas (groups of sikh pilgrims) leave in the vee hours of the morning, chanting and singing along. the chants are just lovely but at 4 in the morning, they aren't really an ideal way to wake up for a person who has walked around 16 km the previous day...! actually, the chants are soothing to one's ears but that is when one reaches hemkund sahib itself, which is another grinding climb away...!
cheers...!
