Pindari Glacier and Uttaranchal travel mate Early May

I'm going to be in Delhi and heading up to Uttaranchal for the first two weeks in May. Looking for a travel partner around Uttaranchal and/or someone interested in Pindari Glacier trek.

Due to a freak work accident, I am recovering from a lower back problem. Thus I have cancelled my Milam Glacier trek, and will now be doing the Pindari Glacier trek in about 3-4 days, return back to Khati, and then do the Saryu Ram Ganga trek, and if possible trek it all the way to Munsiyari.

I will be in Kathgodam on the morning of the 6th of May, and hopefully make it to Song/Loharkhet by the evening.

I am doing the trek leisurely, and plan to reach Munsiyari on foot only by the 16-17th of May or so.

how about a travel report and a rough guide would help all im members to plan future trips.

still lotsa snow there! nice photos but you might want to rotate some of your photos raj so that they are all the same way round

A journey to zero point



After planning from 1 month finaly the day come n we get ready with our rucksacks



At the last moment a bad news come that jp missed his flight,and all the flight for same day were full.



I also get demotivated and think to drop the plan but in the mean while deepesh our third frend come and motivate me (thanks to him).



And we r already late for the train

Thanks to Indian railway which get late by 30mints and we r able to catch the train



It was 27th apr

28th morning from haldwani to bageshwer and then to bharadi

after bharadi we traveled on the roof of jeep up to song and its like camel safari and here we saw a glimpse of snow caped pick and it was enough to make us energetic.

From song up to loharkhet we trekked 3km . satayed in kumaun rest house exelent room and services pushkar singh help us to much and the cost is 100rs per person only

It was 6.30pm and we take tea then our dinner and went for sleep

We remove our extra stuffs here to make rucksack light because there is no need to carry sleeping bag unless u r planning to stay in yr tent



29th morning

finished our b/f and start our trek.it was steep climb for 8km but every beutiful glimpse make us energetic we covered the 8km in 5hr because deepesh is very keen in photography.

After 8km it was a down hill up to dhakuri 1 km

Dhakuri is a very beautiful place to stay few days



But we moved again and covered another 8 km up to khati

Stayed there at krc

In rout we make tea and enjoyed it.



30th morning we start around 8am from khati

up to dwali it was gradual climb 11km

here me n deepesh get separated

I went to dwali krc to pick an iceaxe n waited there for deepesh but deepesh start moving forward,after 45mints of wt when deepesh not came to krc then I start moving further

Now it was raining and after 1.5 km its my first encounter with a small glacier where I saw deepesh just crossed the glacier and he felt down in nala because the ice below his leg get breaked .

Thanks god he was on the side of nala.

When we saw each other then we get cool ok now we had ice axe and we can go beyond.

In this 5km up to phurkiya there are 9small glaciers and among them some are very inclined our shoes had not good grips so by the help of ice axe and one stick we cross these and finaly reached phurkiya by 7pm where 6 treckers from france r already present



Finished our dinner and went for sleep



1st morning after b/f we all 8 we 2+6 from france started for zero point

as we moved aboved its amazing view cant explained in words

after 5 km babaji ashrem .babaji served tea for all of us and asked to many medicines from me

there are around 30 small glaciers we crossed in this 5 km

from phurkiya to zero point 2 dogs were always with us



after finishing our tea we moved for zero point that was 2km far from us

and finaly we touched zero point wher we celebrate with dates



and capture to many picts.



One thing when babaji told us that we are the first Indian of this season who touched zero point we feel very happy

After spending 1hr at zero point we come down to baba ashram where babaji served us khichadi it was very tasty



And then gradually come down up to dwali stayed there in cottage made a fire night with simen and stick



2nd come back to dhakuri in rout made maggi

with my little stove and fuel tablets



stayed at dhakuri here u can make a phone call

3rd morning back to loharkhet pick our stuffs and went down to song and then up to almorha.

Deepesh stayed at almorha I came back to haldwani and get bus for delhi

I was in delhi on 4th because it was my happy birthday frnds



Total cost for this journey was 2000.00rs from delhi to delhi



And we enjoyed to much

Our plan was slightly hectic so its our suggestion to u peoples to make it in easier way and u can do kafni also from dwali



We will plan for kafni next time and sunderdunga also



Frnds may be I am unable to express my feelings in words ,in a single word I want to say that visit once and then u can feel.

In whole trip we missed jp boss to much

please go with good grip shoes
