Pindari and Milam glacier guesthouse November
Does anyone know or know where to find out when the Guesthouses along the Milam glacier route and/or the Pindari glacier route close? I'd like to do one of these treks the first week of November but its getting a bit to cold higher up for my "tarp tent" so I'd like to do a teahouse trek. I'd like to find out if the guesthouses will be open before making the long bus journey over there.
thanks |

the latest kmvn website is -> http://www.kmvn.gov.in/
It seemed familiar to me (they had lifted half the pictures from my blog) ![]() Pindari route is open throughout. Milam should be closing around thsi time. You can check the contact details given here -> http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2006/0...formation.html ring up these guys to confirm the dates. in all probability, mila is in the stage of closing down. you can still go to the pindari route. i went till dhakuri in january..and might try all the way in jan 09.

Thanks for the replys I sent an email to KMVN but they are closed down for Diwali. So I think at least Pindari should be open so I'll head off to Almora and check it out. They are both relatively low altitude treks so it would seem November should be a great time to do them weather wise.

The guesthouses at Dwali and Phukiya will close November 15th. Babaji will be at his place near 0 point through December, but plans to be in Bangalore for January. So it would be possible to do the trek into December going from Khati to 0 point in a day, long day but doable. Weather was good snowed the day I arrived at Babaji's place but the next day was great and then layer of snow on the valley floor melted nearly as soon as the sun hit it.
I hear Milam villages are pretty empty so I'll try back there in the spring. |

It is correct what you heard about the Milam villages.
Martoli was already deserted for winter on October 20th when I was there. Also pretty cold. mario |

I have just done pindari and it seemed that the weather is perfectly fine, the route will be closed probably in the early december as I heard from various people over there.
The temperature will be absolutely fine and the sky will be clear. You can now see the most beautiful view of mountains this time, even in the night, as I have seen that. I'll post the trek details and pictures soon. ![]() Best of luck |
