Photographic trek..
Hi All,
I have been reading a lot on Indiamike..and i m in love with the site and people here..I am new to trekking but slightly more experienced in photography... I m having a week (10june to 17) in hand but tight on budget (5K or so).I want to go on a trek where I have the chance to c minimum crowd and good photo opportunities (lookin for more snow opportunities)..a shorter trek will also do..need not to be a week..The idea is to be able to take good shots..I m starting from delhi..plz suggest some places.. Thanks, Siddharth |

Mountain is calling!! Dare to Challange .

inspite of high rise peaks, I personally think that green valleys and bugiyals are much more scenic. Har-Ki-Doon, Valley of Flowers, Ali Bugiyal, Bedini Bugiyal, Kalyani Bugiyal etc. choose one of them.

then i guess this is the wrong time....if you want snow pics, you should wait for winters. summers are not the best time for snow. This time of the year, you will have to climb really high to get some snow. i still think bugyals are the best bet. try bedni bugyal, for example. you might be able to get some close up shots of Trishul. we did bedni during the monsoons. here are some shots: http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2006/0...himalayas.html
if you want to do a winter trek, you can look at the links of dhakuri and har ki doon trek on the same page. but seriously, forget a proper snow trek at this time of the year. you will HAVE to wait for winters for a snow trek. some ppl get lucky and get snow in their treks in october also.

Do you want snow on ground or snow capped peaks visible? The second is possible but the first difficult in summer at lower altitudes.

bedni bugyal and chopta are also very good places to check out snow capped peaks.
![]() chopta is easy. bedni is tough as far as climbing to the bugyals is concerned - that is, the first 10 kms. after that, you are on the top of the bugyals and on the top of the world. enjoy the views of trishul from there ![]() ![]() ![]() |

oh my god, here i go again....
how could i forget khalia top. Check this: http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2006/1...kend-trek.html it is 7 kms above munsyari, very rarely visited, and offers views as far as nepal - from nanda devi to api peak in nepal. on a clear day the views from there are absolutely amazing. then, if you want panaroma views, please try out chaukori. you get a view from trishul to api in nepal. Links: http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2007/0...-munsyari.html and http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2008/01/ajc-part-3.html and http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2008/0...-munsyari.html you can also try for the chiltha mai temple above dhakuri. a bit away from the main trail but very good views on a clear day - from maiktoli to api in nepal. you can try this place after a winter snowfall also. links: http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2008/0...i-pindari.html if you want to be a bit adventurous and want to get close up views of Api in nepal, then you shoudl look for trekkign options around narayan ashram and beyond. i guess rajkumar can help you on this. links: http://almoraboy.blogspot.com/2007/0...an-asharm.html even i love photographic treks ![]() ![]() ![]() |
