Can you share more details about arrangements, like what all will be provided on trek, like tents, sleeping mats etc etc and what would one require to carry along.

I might join in..hoping weather opens up by that time

4500-5000 per head per day???????????

means it is a 9 day trek, so the total cost would be Rs. 45000.00 per head for Tapovan & Nandanvan

Are you going for treking or in space? It's tooooo much. The cost should be around 2000 maximum 2200 in case of 2 persons. If no. of persons 4-6, it will cost abound 1200 to 1500.
The approximate breakup is as under :

Guide @ Rs. 750.00 / day
Porter/Cook 3 @ 400 = 1200/ day
Tent ect @ 300 / day
Rasan ( Food materials) @ 200x6 = 1200
Other miscellaneous expenses @ 300/

Total cost 3750 / day for 2 persons means 1800/ per head per day.

The OP has clearly mentioned Rs 4,500-5,000 per day divided by the no. of persons. So, if 2 persons do the trek, the cost per person would be below Rs 2,500 per day. This is exactly what you also estimated.

Due to inclement weather and closure of Uttarkashi-Gangotri
road our journey has been postponed and our new schedule is :

Day 6 - 26/09/2012 - Tapovan-Meru Glacier-Tapovan
Day 7 - 27/09/2012 - Tapovan-Kirti Glacier-Tapovan
Day 8 - 28/09/2012 - Tapovan-Gangotri
Day 9 - 29/09/2012 - Gangotri-Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi-Gangotri roads have reopened & permits are being issued
by DFO Uttarkashi.
There are numerous agencies who have quoted a wwide range of prices.
Some of the components which you have ignored are :
1. Camping charges @ Rs. 200 & 400 per day
2. Hiring charges of tents, kitchen sets, sleeping bags & carry mats
3. Daily charges for roaming around in Gangotri National Park for each person
4. A DD of Rs. 5,000 to be deposited as security which shall be returned after journey
5. Costs can either be calculated individually or on package basis.

There is scope for incorporating changes in the original plan as per requirement of the group.

N.B. - Forgot to reply Viny's query :
You need to carry yourself, lots of enthusiasm & a rucksack
carrying your clothes, woolens & other personal necessities.
Tents, Sleeping Bags, Carry Mats, Kitchen Items etc shall be
taken care of
You need to provide one ID proof for the permit (PAN/Voter card
D/L etc shall suffice)
I shall take enough medicines with me so you need not bother
You shall require a pair of good trekking shoes too
On the way back we shall be visiting Kedarnath, Tunganath,
Chandrashila & Badrinath(if possible) - you can join if you wish

I will be in Tapovan by the end of next week. Also I plan that if feasible then go upto Meru glacier as well

Kallumian: Did you complete this trek this year? How much was the expenditure / person, totally? And did you visit Vasuki tal, too?
