Read some Panch Kedar travelogues here.

Kedarnath to Chorabari tal [now called Gandhi Sarovar] is a pleasant 2 km trek.

Vasuki Tal is around 9 km from Kedarnath. If you start by 07:00 from Kedarnath, you can come back to Kedarnath before 16:00 without straining yourself.

Both are do-able. Even "tough" tourists [ppl who are not trekkers] do it. Carry enuff food and water... take a guide to Vasuki tal if you are unsure in the mountains. Don't attempt both in a single day... the fun will be lost.

thnx,AT. good to hear advice from people who have been there.
we are keeping everything flexible, especially due to weather and landslide factors - prepared for 'disappointments' :-)
