Padum > Markha through Zanskar gorge
We're currently in Leh contemplating an extended trip... Stok > Lamayuru, down to Padum, then back to Hemis via the gorge (remote Zanskar trek in the LP trekking). Are we crazy for doing this last stretch in July August? I know there will be very high water, so my questions are : is it a matter of just taking longer with intermediary campsites, or is there the chance of really getting stuck somewhere along the way?
Also we will be self-sufficient without a guide, armed with decent topos (US military) and the trip reports from LP. I can't find anything on the remote zanskar route from the Charlie Lorims book. If anyone has done this before or has trip reports, etc. please let me know - they would be most helpful! thanks!! |
