One month Himalayan adventure
Am planning a month-long Himnalayan adventure. Plan to hire an Innova from Delhi and head to the hills. The region I want to cover is roughly from Patnitop to Mukteshwar and back to Delhi
Would be nice if some experienced travellers could help me plan my trip. Basically I want to travel through the Himalayas in the comfort of an AC Innova, stay in nice clean places, not get mugged on the way, indulge in some adventure sports like rafting, paragliding etc... Know of any good places where I can stay? I like to stay in places like the Golf Glade in Naldehra... well appointed cottages in the middle of Himalayan landscape. Want to steer clear of commercial cities like Simla, Mussoorie, Nainital (!) etc... Can someone advise the route I should take and the places that are recommnded for staying... I am not into roughing it out, am looking for comfortbale accommodation with clean toilets and hot water... Any advise would be valuable... Thanx! |

you can try a delhi-dalhousie--chamba-dharamsala-bir/billing-manali-delhi and then delhi-ramgarh-mukteshwar-Binsar-ranikhet-delhi.All these places would have ample comfort, you'd get paragliding in Bir-billing and manali, you'd also get river crossing and zorbing in manali.tHERE WOULD BE AMPLE TREKS AND WALKS IN ALL THE OTHER PLACES.

Himalayan Drive Thru
Thanks Rishabh,
The only problem is that I don't want to come back to Delhi. I want to travel right thru the Himalayas without having to come down to the plains. Going to the Himalayas is like a 'stairway to heaven' for me... why spoil the trip by dipping back to hell (!)... After all, this is a mountain belt that you cannot find anywhere else in the world... REAL mountains... not hills! Just wanna stay up there... I am sure there will be routes that can take directly to the hills of Garhwal from Himachal Pradesh withour having to descend into the plains... In any case, thanks for you advise... Lagge Raho Yatri Bhai... ![]() |

from himachal pradesh, u can enter into uttarakhand (garhwal) from a place called tuini. u can enter into the uttarkashi district. in that area, u can do the treks to har ki dun (long trek) or kedarkanta (short trek). then the major stops will be purola and nowgaon. from there u can go further east to the prayags (rudraprayag, karnaprayag, etc). here u can check out chakrata. then u can go east and enter kumaon via gwaldam. and if u r in kumaon, don't miss out munsyari. for the pics, u can check out my blog.

Actually it does feel like hell sometimes, heheh. Good thing "heaven" is only 250 km away. ![]() If u want to stick to the main roads, u can go from Nahan to Paonta, cross into UA here and drive the length of the Dun valley to Rishikesh/Haridwar, and then head whichever direction u like. |
