| You talking abt Sikim west right? I walked to Hilley Barsey in 2003. Don't remember where I went from there. Will send you a scanned map once I find it. Cheers |

| Yes...actually...but long time back It was in December 2006-January 2007. A very nice trekking route. Go for it! Our itinerary was: Day 01: Start from Kolkata by train. Day 02: Reach NJP. Go to Hilley by car. Night stay at Hilley. Day 03: Trek starts from Hilley. Reach Deolingalidhap via Versey. Day 04: Reach Thulodhap. Day 05: Cross Singalila pass and camp at Thorebhulebhanjan. Day 06: Trek to Phalut. Night stay at Phalut. Day 06: Reach Sirikhola from Phalut. Night stay at Sirikhola. Day 07: Trek to Rimbik. Take car from Rimbik to NJP. Start for Kolkata by train. Day 08: Reach Kolkata. Though the information is a bit backdated, things should not have changed much. We got our guide/porters from Hilley. Kerosene had to be procured from Jorethang/Nayabajar. You can add one more day to the itinerary and go from Phalut to Sandakphu. The road is incredibly beautiful (dependent on weather of course). Hilley to Versey to Deolingolidhap was quite an easy trek. Deolingolidhap to Thulodhap had some pretty steep climbs. Thulodhap to Singalilla is up all the way, but then Phalut it is mostly downhill/plain. Phalut is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, and definitely the most windy! Phalut to Sandakphu is undulated, but the stretch is about 22 kms. Phalut to Sirikhola is plain/downhill, about 26 kms. |
