Just returned from this trek. Some name of places that ware given in my previous post will change a bit so giving a detail route-info below:---
27.10: Started from Kolkata.
28.10: Reach at Pelling via Siliguri.
29.10.2006: The village Nambu is 7-8Km away from Pelling. From there I collected three porters. Took ration from Gazinng market.
30.10.2006:Nambu-Upper Rimbi-Kheybang-Seyeng Khola-Chongri.
31.10.2006: Chomgri-Chunjam Khola-Nayapatal. I have to Change my plan to stay at Phedi because of scarcity of water.
01.11.2006: Nayapatal-Yampung. In Yampung there is a dilapidated Yak hut.
02.11.2006: Yampung-Sukiapokhri-Kalipokhri-Lampokhri-Gomathang.
03.11.2006: Gomathang-Yongsap-Boktochu-Pangdim-BigbariKhola. Pangdim was very windy so I descended and camped beside BigbariKhola. HMI basecamp is 45min-1hour journey from here.
04.11.2006: BigbariKhola-Dzongri(13220ft)
06.11.2006: Visit Goechala
07.11.2006: Reach Bakhim.
08.11.2006: Reach Yuksam.
The point to be noted is that no peak will be visible until you reach Bgbarikhola and those peaks can also be visible from Dzongri. But to avoid the over-crowded conventional Yuksam-Tsoka-Dzongri-Goechala route you can do this route without being disturbed by Joes-horses and crowd and can enjoy the serene beauty peacefully. From 2002-03 Sikkim Govt is promoting this route as an alternative to the conventional route. So someday, this route will also be over-crowded. Before that please pay a visit. No food and accommodation is available en route. At three-four points you have to camp above treeline. Porter fee Rs. 150/-plus food. I did this trek alone with these porters and they co-operated with me in evey possible way.
