Need info about personal experiences N.east India

Hi,
I am thinking of doing a expedition trek in one of states of north east india during december(10-15 days). Sikkim or arunachal pradesh. Has anyone trekked extensively in this area. I want to know personal experiences. any permits to buy..where are the best guides.

Any info would be appreciated.

I'm thinking about a similar trip in May. As far as I know, Sikkim permits are easy to get at the border or in Darjilling, etc... Arunachal Pradesh is supposed to be more difficult, almost impossible without a tour, I've heard?

But I'm also looking to get info... hard to get for the northeast, to be sure? Anyone Been there indedendently? What were the costs like? And in May?

I heard that the permits are not a problem for indian citizens. But for foreigners a different kind of permit(10 day duration , prbly more expensive too) is required. google for sikkim arunachal pradesh treks and you will get all relevant info.
