NANDANVAN Trek-Suggestion-Advice Needed/ please

#First timer
#No experience
#Team of 4 (with only 1 who trekked before/ Roopkund)
#Rail Reservation done Oct.1 - Oct.16 (Haridwar)
#No clear ideas whether we will be allowed upto Nandanvan or not. [rang up GMVN, they told me w/o trek-group or club they won't allow us any further than Tapovan.]
#we want to reach up to Nandanvan. touching goumukh/ tapovan and all the places if any there to see, starting out from gangotri (acclimatizing there for 2 days).

I'm sure in this open forum i will have some experienced guidance and advice.
thank you in advance.

Lol dont mention to anyone that you want to go beyond Gaumukh.

Take permission till Gaumukh for 2 nights you wont get for third. Take a guide uptill Nandanvan.

Leave Gangotri and reach Bhojbasa by noon - stay for the night
Next day morning leave for Nandanvan or Tapovan. come back to Bhojbasa for night.
Next day leave for Nandanvan and return to Bhojbasa for night or if you hurry up you can return to Gangotri also. But it will be very tiring and it will be like touch and go.

Or you can stay at Tapovan for the night and next morning go to Nandanban from there.

It will be very cold out there in October so go prepared.

You get permission for 2 nights - Now the catch - early first day you cross the gate and enter the park area. First night you stay there. Second day you roam around and then stay for 2nd night in the park area. On the third day you leave for Gangotri. No see you have stayed three days in the park - The attendants at the gate will ask you that you have stayed 3 days inside the park so pay for 1 day extra that you stayed there. If you argue with them then they will say oks dont pay but the deposit will not be returned..

They give permission for two days and two nights. How will you manage this is your problem. And another funny thing the DFO gives permission for 2 nights while you can book GMVN guest house for 3 nights - Same govt two departments and both have different rules.

What I mean to say is that you will be charged extra so why not stay extra night and then pay up.

Let me Thank you first for your quick reply, and your time and suggestion about the itinerary.
But I am even more confused now.
If they are only giving 2 nights permission- how are people trekking to kedartal or further?

@Krishan the permission only for 1st 02 days by the forest office at uttarkashi for Only Gomukh, if in case you want spend more days Gomukh Area you can can payINR 50 per day extra to forest department at check post near to gangotri, and for kedrtal trek it is diffrent way to Gomukh and you can pay same cost like Gomukh. The permit 1st one only for 02 days not for 02 nights mean, the visitors should be 02and day come back at Gangotri, if you come down 03rd day will be pay INR 50 extra per paerson.

Both Kedartal and Gaumukh - Nandanvan, Tapovan fall within the National Park. But Gangotri Glacier being very important the Supreme Court has limited the No of people visiting the place to protect it from pollution and warming. So limitation, restrictions have been put to reduce the no of people going there.

While no restrictions in the Kedartal region. Moreover the Kedar Tal trek is more difficult and no path has been constructed on this side. One part of the trek is mostly damaged and you have to find your own path. Seeing this very few people go for this trek. Lol Nature has put its own restrictions so govt has no interference.

Those people going beyond Tapovan towards Badrinath seek special permission and its considered a expedition and heavy fee must be paid.

Dont mention Tapovan or Nandanvan while seeking your permission. Neither tell at the gate while going in. Just go and stay as long as you want to. When you come back you will be fined and will have to pay a small fine for which you may get a receipt or may not. So enjoy.

Exclamation undecided about [AFTER Tapovan]/ Please suggest

Since this thread is all about NANDANVAN, i do have another query.

What else are there to see while we tent at Tapovan, beside Nandanvan top.
[picked up about 'neel tal'/ 'meru peak'/ 'raktobarno glacier' . .] .
but couldn't decide since I got no visual reference. Can someone share pictures?

about the part "cook' and camp'.

Can you tell me: how is the charge calculated for camping?
in that Rate-chart you've given: camping is only mentioned for chirwassa and bhojwassa. [since these two places have particular camp sites].
# are they going to charge for Tapovan, by calculating the total number of days? or is it just for chirwassa and bhojwassa! (wild hope;-)
# is there any provision to store extra luggage at bhojwassa? if yes, at what rate?

Look once you cross Chirbasa there is no one to ask you a single question. They have a camping site at Bhojbasa also. If you go beyond Bhojbasa you wont find any govt employee.

Your guide will be able to manage everything for you. If you payup at the GMVN Bhojbasa or the Lalbaba ashram they will keep your extra luggage.

Even if you trek beyond Bhojbasa to Badrinath all the way - no one will ask you or look for you.

Thanks
the picture is more clear now

Though I'm worried about the rates they're gonna charge for the safe-keeping our luggages. [it's scary, as they are charging Rs.110/- for puri-bhaji and Rs.60/- for Horlicks/ GMVN canteen, bhojwassa (from your blog)]
