Hi Shmeegol
I am not a trained trekker, although there are basic and advanced mountaineering courses are available. If you are not having any heart problem or hyper tension you can always trek. Age is no bar at all. |

Hi sks551
I would love to be in your buddy list. About Gomukh trip, as Santanu said, you must try Tapoban or for that matter Nandanban. In Tapoban you'll get accomodation (inside a cave!) as well. |

Hi Pradeep,
You reminded me about the cave in Tapovan. We stayed there. It was fun (And cold :-))inside. Still much better than pitching tent outside.Although we were carrying the tent we decided to stay inside the cave in October. And boy , we were lucky as it snowed heavily in the night & one particular group's tent gave in at night. The poor guys had to wake up at the middle of night & do a lot of shovelling job as their tent roof collapsed with the load of ice. We all were laughing the next morning in bright sunshine but it was serious as they almost suffocated !!! |

Hi Ram,
Sorry for the late reply.I will be doing my EBC Trek after just 4 days (Sunday,27th Sept Flying to Lukla and trekking upto Phakding/Benkar/Monjo). The first thing i did was to go through all sorts of info on EBC, from Net, From Lonely planet, then meeting and talking to people who had actually gone there. Like once I come back i would share my exp here in this forum. Try to do some free hand exercise and walking, it helps. You don't need much special preparation as it is a tea house trek and during the season time you dont need to carry your tent, or cook food etc. From my other Nepal trek experience I can tell you, its going to be more like a checking from one hotel (Tea House!!) to another with all their basic facility.Only you need to walk all the way.Although i am carrying my sleeping bag, i might not need to unfold it as probably all the tea house would provide extra blanket if asked for it. So signing off now, and praying for nice sunny weather and good health in the trek |
