WoW, Mind blowing pictures. And Hundreds of them...A feast for eyes. A real visual treat. I am trying to reconstruct with my inner eye how it looks like on the top of Khalia. A panorama view..360 degrees scene. Can you please put up a page with those pics that complete the panoramic view?
Last Feb we were in Munsiary but did n't go to Khalia top. Now i regret...but then domestic compulsions have a higher priority any day, I guess. Enjoy your bachelor days. Let me recover from this delightful 'onslaught' on my visual senses. And it takes a while to get out of the full impact of your shots. Well done! |

hi all,
the actual thing is that the pics i have uploaded are thumbnails if u compare them to the original size pics .the originals are around 8 mpix in resolution and i could not figure out how to upload them. most of the free upload sites do have some restrictions on the file size. also, i have decided to take my gf to this place after my marriage. so that will be sometimes in this winter...if i get long enough holidays. plan to explore every valley in that area then. and i guess winters will make it look even more beautiful. what we will try to do is to climb up the mountains that r on the other side of the gori ganga river...so we will end up at the base of the panch chulis. long shot..but will try to go as high as possible. |

hi
Oh boy,
It's quite a revelation for me that Nandadevi is visible from Khalia top. Thanks for the pictures. I was almost there while browsing your pics. Panchachulis are nearer from Darma side. I immensely liked the panchachuli photo with two temples in the foreground. Exploring the goriganga and the side valleys is a good idea. But in the winter along with your gf...think twice. Ralam valley, Madkanya river, Pyunsani river, Uttari and Dakshini Balati glaciars at the base of Pancachuli, Chiplakot bugyals...the whole area is less frequented. finding good guides is also difficult. But one can rely on sheapards, They are more reliable and knowledgeable than the Munsiary people. Generally those who climb Panchachuli from Munsiary side go there through these valleys. I think it's the climber Steve Venebles who broke his leg on Panchachuli and Indian pilots rescued him in a dare devil adventure that has become a legend. Do read W.H. Murray’s classic account of a walk from Ranikhet to the Panch Chuli: The Scottish Himalayan Expedition (J.M. Dent, 1951). I am so eager to read this book but could n't find it. tellme if you can access it. Also here is an Outlook traveller's article: Panchachuli |

It reminds me of my trip to Munsyari (Feb 05). Ronak.
