Thanks yaar,

Spoke to my friend in India who is in touch with someone who organises these trips professionally (don't know who they are).

He said Kalanag may not be possible in mid-March and he is making alternate arrangements.

So guess I'll be looked after there.

Kind regards and cheers for your tips.
Goawalla.

I would like to climb one of the Himalayas. I thought Kalanag was do-able. Reading the articles suggests it isn't.

Any suggestions?

I'm relatively fit but pretty inexperienced. I've only climbed one mountain in NZ that was 2300 metres high and took 12 hours to climb and descend in total.

Thanks in advance.
Do you mean 7 days from arrival to and departure from Base Camp? If so, then you have three options if you are not an Indian National. Friendship peak(5289m.)& Ladakhi peak(5345m.) in Himachal Pradesh and Stok Kangri(6153m.) in Ladakh. If you are an Indian, then there are several more options like Rudugaira, Thelu, Koteshwar, etc. But you must keep in mind that it is not safe to rush up a high altitude Himalayan peak because of paucity of time. It is very important to acclimatise to the altitude before moving higher.

So far all I know is the name of the mountain...

Any advice and information please?
If you did do Kalanag appreciate any further info.
