Well may be it is time for you to revisit Pindari and relive the memories live rather than thru photos

Yes... but the Pindari trek is so crowded that I wonder whether it has become more of a tourist spot rather than trekkers' paradise. Even in Oct'85, when I did this trek, there were hundreds of trekkers enroute.

As of now, my inclination to visit Dhakuri in winter is very strong especially after viewing almoraboy's pictures .

Great to see your pics and trip details. I had seen last time that construction was going on opposite Bharat Seva Ashram. Great to know that hotel Anusree, as mentioned by you, has been completed. Any contact no. of that hotel?

Thanks for the reply. One more question, the picture of Panchvati Lodge of Khatara is awesome. Why you did not stay there. Any specific reason? How long it is from Bantoli?

Yes. When we got there, we were really bewildered by its beauty. But, we did not know that it was that nice before we went there. Khatara is about 1-1.5 km.(about 40 min.) uphill from Bantoli. When we reached Bantoli, it was late in the afternoon and the lodge at Bantoli looked good enough. So, we decided to put up at Bantoli for the night. Another problem with the lodge at Khatara was that it lacked a proper latrine; although ,given its beautiful ambience, even an open-air latrine wouldn't have been much of a deterrent. The owner of the Panchvati Lodge, Fateh Singh, was goodness personified. You just look at some people and get the intuitive feeling about their goodness.Fateh Singh was that sort of a man. Here are 2 more pics, one of the lodge at Bantoli and the other of Fateh Singh :

I think the place is known as Khandara, atleast that is what the forest deptt. sighboard reads. All the area over Khandara comes under the jurisdiction of Kedarnath wild life Santuary and they also charge something if one is going to pitch tents somewhere, over Khandara.

Bantoli Lodge is equally good. Thanks for the additional two pics. Yes, most of the people I have met so far in Garwal, are good.

Hi friends,
Back again to my old thread. There is a saying in Bengali,"SAKOLI TOMARI ITCHHA"- means it's all on your wish, God. Man proposes, God disposes. Last year I could not make it. But if everything goes right, I am visiting Madmaheswar this year. Last year I went to Kalpeswar/Gohna Tal with the inspiration of Dilliwala and Raghu, the details of which can be viewed in Uttarakhand thread.

What's your plan for this year?

Somnath-da

Was reading the all the posts, it's really beautiful, that just reading through the a single thread, one can get so many info about a trek.

Can you please share your experience of Gohna tal? Never heard of this place.

If everything goes well, I'm going to Himalaya this september. My first visit to Garhwal. I've only visited Sikkim himalayas, that too, was family visits, mainly covering hugely crowded tourist spots.

This time I'm planning to go Kedarnath, madhyamaheshwar, Tunganath. I need loads of info, because I've never been to that part of the country.

I will go alone.
