Leh - Manali trek in July

Hey Guys,

Can anyone give me info about organising treks in Leh. Is it more expensive than organising a trek in Manali first before heading up to Leh? What do people recommend?

Cheers,
D

very simple

If you want to start your trek around Leh, organize it in Leh, if you want to trek near Manali (like Darcha-Padum, Chandra tal-Baralacha, Pin Parbati), organize it in Manali.

Trekking in Leh

Hi , I would suggest its better to land up in Manali and get afeel of the place and try to find your way around looking out for other fellow travellers intrested in trekking in Leh or possibly could be intrested in Trekking from Manali to Leh.
I would recommend you the Kharnak _Rupshu Trek starting from Sarchu over 10-12 days tO hemis in Leh ,I did this many years ago and I found it to be good alternative to the Classic Darcha-Lamayuru Trek over 21days ..or you could possibly explore Spiti and then Trek from Kibber over the Parangla to Tsmororiri and then to Leh by Veichle (about 8hrs from Karzok)..you need to have an inner line permit though.
Cheers and Have fun,

Trekking in Ladakh: I suggest that you read and have some information about topography and climatic conditions in ladakh before you set foot in high altitudes.

I am sorry if I feel little defensive but trekking in ladakh requires good understanding of altitude and human body. This is also known as acclimitization. I had spent some time in climbing, biking and trekking in this region and by experience I can say that.

There are some very good IMers here like AVID- you will find lot of information from his posts.

Wishing you a memorable ladakh experience !

This is just magical !!
