| Hello, I'm a new member - I want to visit the himalayas around June 10th. I want to do some photography, so I need to know the weather. Does anyone know how the weather in Almora is through June? I know the monsoon is starting, and a couple of clouds or rainy days wont be a trouble, as long as there's intermittent sunshine. I'll probably take 10 days around Almora - pretty much anytime in June. I also want to do some 2-night hiking around dhaulchinna Biswaroop |

| Member | I have little knowledge of the weather there, or anywhere for that matter, if you need sunshine, why do you not go when you are guaranteed sunshine? Any back to the point, my stepdaughter was there a couple of years ago around June/July and brought home some beautiful artistic photographs. Please remember, rain, mist etc, is just as alluring to the discerning eye as a landscape of blue sky, it’s nature. (Unless of course you are a photographic agent for a travel agent). Of course you could look up the statistics department of the BBC weather centre whose records go back for millennia. Anyway have a great trip. June in Almora is the month that shows people who don’t drink exactly what an enormous hangover feels like. Last edited by Dawnsdad; May 25th, 2009 at 00:18.. Reason: Geographical disoriantation |

| Hey, thanks for the reply! Well, I'm a bit constrained about time - only the June month is empty... I know that rainy weather can bring wonderful photographs (in fact, I went in August almost every time before this one). However, I do some night-sky photography of the milky way, and that really does need a clear sky. That said, do you mean to say that it's too hot in Almora at that time - judging from the "hangover" comment? |

It is however very intermittent, mist may also be a problem for anything but the professional photographer. But whatever, go, you will love it. Everything that you see or do can be what you wish it to be, i.e. if it is pouring down, just think to yourself, great, now I can get some terrific shots, also when it is raining, it’s just great waiting for the sunshine, no? BTW, try to take things less seriously, sorry for the lecture but it shows. In the immortal words of the great bard Mark Twain: “I am an old man and I have known many troubles, but most of them never actually happened”. |

| Papush, here is my take 1. Weather in difficult to predict more so in the mountains. 2. June early part may not see any rains but typically there may be haze and the chances of clear skies are low 3. Mountain landscapes may be difficult to click but it all depends on your luck, however flowers, people etc are managable For landscapes the best time would be Nov/Dec |
