I hope your agency has told you what they are providing and what you are supposed to bring. Also what you have to carry while on trek and what food is going to be served. if all this is known have a good time. If i am not mistaken you are finishing the trek at Tapovan.

You are moving on to the pass which offers one of the best scenes of the Himalaya. Go ahead without worry and enjoy.

Forgewell, how long are you going to be there? I have trekked through Kuari Pass but we exited in Dhuni. I am just wondering if Tapovan is slightly shorter?

its an amazing trek !!! i did the same and exited at tapovan ... it took us 3 days ... i was going on an organized trek as well at first but as i reached joshimath i found out that the local agencies charge MUCH less ... it took me half a day to get things organized at joshimath for the trek ... they have a package for the trek , but i rented the gear at individual rent basis and the whole thing , including sleeping bags , porters tents food stove etc. cost us about rs 3500 (total) for the 3 days (included 2 nights ) i went through the himalayan snow runner ... indians have to take a cheap permit for like 60 rs. (roughly ) and its about 200rs. for foreigners ... (PER DAY )
i had an AMAZING time there ... hooked up with three foreigners and we all split the costs ... i would suggest u to do something like this unless its costing u less with that organized tour ... have fun
happy traveling
PS : dont waste ur time and money on taking the cablecar to get to auli from joshimath ... u will get MUCH MUCH better views in the trek itself ... its 400 rs. for one person ...( just my opinion from my own experience )

Trips to Haven, thanks I thought that Kuari pass base the guide pointed out that if we really needed to exit in a hurry there is Tapovan below. Yes, the views are amazing on the trek.

Hi....an associated question...
We are planning to do the Roopkund-Homkund trek and come out from Ghat to Tapovan through Kuari Pass. We'll be trekking sometime in mid-June.
Is the stretch from Ghat to Tapovan via Kuari Pass do-able without a guide? Or is there a possibility of getting lost?
