I know this is obviously off-topic on Indiamike, but if anyone has done this trek please could you PM me, I am planning to go in a few months time. Cheers.
Yep - I have, and it was a wonderful experience.
Here's the book I used as a reference - it's superb.

Kilimanjaro
Well if you are going to east africa, Kilimanjaro is definitely worth an attempt specially if you have enough money to spare. The rules and regulations in Tanzania make it exorbitant. Unlike India , you cannot climb these touristy mountains alone or as you wish and perforce by law, you have to hire an agency and even in group of three, they shall charge you nothing less than 1200-2000 USD depending on the services they are offering.
There are various routes from Arusha but I think Marunge and Machame are most popular.
Remember each day you spend beyond any of the gates cost you upwards of USD 100 + taxes + tips + misc expenditure. ( Tips are very high for Kili and demanded and you have to pay 20-30% by local law ) And if you are not fit or improperly acclimatises , you will not enjoy it also since Kili is high.
Ideally I would suggest climb Mt Kenya from Naro Maro, it would be much cheaper ( Park entrance fee is 150 USD per day and guidance for four day trek is less than 100 USD incl tips) and once you have acclimatised there move to Nairobi, take a bus and reach ARusha. Negotiate well and never pay any advance to touts. Be careful and ask in fine print what services you are being offered. ( Most likely you shall be swindled and clarify about tips well in advance)
