Kedartal curiosity

Hi,

In almost all the threads about kedartal I have read people warning about bitter cold.Is it unusually cold there? I mean there are certainly higher camping grounds (even Bagubasa)and proximity to peaks also can not be a reason.

Enlighten me!!

You can avoid the cold if you camp at Kedar kharak, I returned from there 2 weeks back and we camped at Kedar kharak.

Kedartal is hardly 3 hours trek from Kedar kharak.

Please give some tips, because we (only 2 persons) are going this october.
You suggest if we hire tents etc. from uttarkashi. We are from Kolkata.
What may be the charges of porter. Last yr we hv paid Rs.400 for Milam.

Your plan is too lengthy as per our schedule. Accordingly to our schedule:-

Day 1(SHASHTHI):- Kolkata - Amritswar Express @ 12-30 p.m. from Kolkata station.
Day 2:- Saharanpur - Dehradun - Chamba.
Day 3:- Chamba - Uttarkashi - Gangotri(Arrangement of foodstuffs, porters,Trekking stuffs etc. to be done by our guide Mr. Kishan Singh Panwar)
Day 4:- Gangotri - Bhujkharag
Day 5:- Bhujkharag - Kedarkharag - Kedartal
Day 6:- Kedartal -Thalaysagar BC - Jogin ABC & Back to Kedartal
Day 7:- Buffer Day (Kept for Inclement Weather)
Day 8:- Straight back to Gangotri, if feasible upto Uttarkashi at night.
Day 9:- Uttarkashi - Haridwar & catch NDLS-DDN AC SFST EXP at 00-30 for Delhi.
Day 10:-Howrah Duranto Express at 13-00 p.m. from NDLS.
Day 11:-Arrive Kolkata at 06-00 a.m.

Something that you might wonder that we are finishing the trek in an Ussain Bolt manner as coming down to Uttarkshi from Kedartal in one day. But we usually do it in such manner. Once we reach our final destination then we start off for the return journey in such hasty manner.

Yes. I know it. But, firstly, we want to avail our puja holidays and from my past experience, I felt that weather starts deteriorating around Dewali, whether it is at the middle of september or october.
So we are determined.
