Hello Mikers..
There is a plan of doing Kedarkantha trek (without any operators, on our own.) Can you please help out with :
1. Best time to visit(without the snow) (was thinking of september)
2. Where can we hire porter, guide, tent, sleeping bags etc
3. A breakdown cost of the overall trek
4. And please a suitable itinerary .
Thanks as always...

Kedarkantha without snow can be done in two days, the locals do it in one day.
Base is Sankri, can reach there from dehradun, direct 10 hr bus from railway station.
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa

Update.. Plan to do both HKD and Kedarkantha. Doing this in mid March. Anybody interested.

As per my talk with people in Sankri, GMVN & FRH shall be operational in March. So one can head to HKD alone. Kedarkantha will need a porter for mainly food. Cost Rs 650/- day is quoted.

Anybody interested in joining ?

Cheers

Would love to join as trekking alone is a far better involvement with the Trek, but we have fixed our dates.. If possible, can you share the details of the quoting and contacts of Sankri locals for food and accommodation?
Thanks.

Dear All
I am planning to go to Kedarkantha/ Har ki Doon trek in the coming first week of January. We are a group of 8 people.
Since sone of you have experience, it would be great of you to help me with my four questions:

1) How much does a local guide and porter charge per day for the trek? How many porters do we need for 8 people?

2) How to book GMVN at Sankri? So far I have found no website links.

3) How much does a sumo cost from Dehradun to Sankri?

3) What will be the rough estimate of my overall budget? We are a group of 8?

Thanking you in advance! I will wait for your reply

Hi,

I'll be doing Kedarkantha trek in January last, 25th night will start from Delhi and reach Sankri on 26th evening. Let me know if you have any plan for January last.

1) How much does a local guide and porter charge per day for the trek? - How many porters do we need for 8 people? If you will carry your backpacks then 4 -5 porters will be enough

2) How to book GMVN at Sankri? So far I have found no website links. - Book thru http://www.gmvnl.in/newgmvn/index.aspx

3) How much does a sumo cost from Dehradun to Sankri? - 6K

3) What will be the rough estimate of my overall budget? We are a group of 8? - Delhi to Delhi around 5-6K.
