Kedar Tal route broken .. no access

Hi All

I came to know that the route to Kedar Tal beyond Bhojkharak is completely broken. Those of you who know about the 'scree zone' - I am told that part of the mountain gave way.

Can anyone confirm this news please. If it is true, all the trekking attempts to Kedar Tal and climbing attempts to Jogin, Bhrigupanth etc will be stalled.

its NOT true that the route is completely broken, but yess there are two stretch where there is problem... early this month even one trekker from bengal fell and got injured.. thank god he is safe.. lots of group trekking till kedartall had to cancel their plans and had to return back...
climbing peaks now is not an good idea either as it has started snowing above 4000mtrs all over himalayas...

Question is with the problem in these two stretches .. can anyone reach to Kedar Tal ?

Can you give me any updates on the two broken stretches on the way to kedartal...? don't worry I'm not planning for kedartal this year...planning to do it next year...but until the route is clear to trek again...I have to plan for option B also...

the main stretch which was broken was just before kedarkharak, its called mud mountain... here loose rocks and mud keep falling continuously until it rains.
till some good expedition team cuts the broken part and cuts out steps it will be not possible to reach kedarkharak... lets see if we have another plan in next May, we shall try to open up the route...

Planning Kedar tal around later half of April 2012.

april may be not possible... plan it for May or June... i did this trek in june'11 and managed to reach till Jogin summit camp...
last year the route was broken just before kedarkharak in october... the first group going this year will have to open it for others...

hi! whatever you do - please read advise from vistet about altitude sickness. I won't call this an easy trek especially when you have to walk through the moraine to reach Kedartal. Bad weather conditions can make it really worse besides falling rocks and the sandy path giving way under your feet.

Actually I am going for NIM basic course 221.Course ends mid April...and am looking for a trek nearby. Is it possible to get a guide who can help us make our way to Kedar tal. Any contact of
experienced guide?

Besides tapovan trek,
can any one suggest an alternative trek near uttarkashi?

I am also gonna join a BMC batch in Mid april .

you can contact uttarkashi based guide @ 9457906211 with whom i did my kedartaal-jogin summit trek...
you can plan for dodital-darwa top besides Kyarkoti, or bamsarukhal..

that must be BMC 222...next course after me.
