Hi,
Since there was late snow this year may be you get less snow up there. You will come to know about snow at Gangotri itself and there itself you can get guide/ porters. Rate is Rs 200/- per day. You need to carry camping equipment. Read the story on kedartal on himalayancamping.com.
Have one week time Gangotri to gangotri to enjoy the place.
All the best

due to some constraint we had to fix a strict 5 day schedule from gangotri to gangotri...but the team is made up of moderately experienced trekkers, so that wont be any problem.
actually i am more worried about getting the right guide porter and cooking equipment from uttarkashi. if any one can give me info about good agency in uttarkashi that would help me a lot.

Buddhi Goswai : 09758118757 (Uttarkashi)
Check him out he is pretty experienced (NIM certified Advanced Mountaineer). I have personally trekked with him.

I have trekked with Buddhi too as recently as October last year. Young chap, looks like out of college. He's experienced. However, book your own porters instead of going through him. He really doesn't know many folks in Gangotri. Take him only as a guide. He lives in Uttarkashi.

hi,
i have done kedar tal in Oct 05, and we only hier the porter as he was specialized for this trek.
the trek is quite tough & from kedar karak you realy need a guide.

you can talk to swami viyogananad sareswati ji (1377-222202-1),
he is head of ishawasya ashram (one of the biggest ashram of gangotri) & he had done this trek many time & readed kedar tak in 1 day. he is also a good photographer.

the secoud contact is a profession photography in uttarkashi mr. ravi panwar (0941239869, 01374-224596) & he will give you valuable information about this trek. he also had a shop of photos in gangotri, very helpfull chap.

cheers........kiran

Hi,
If I am not mistaken the Swamiji looking after the ashram is Swami Raghvandra nandji. Has there been any change after Sep 06. Also do you have Swamiji's mobile number. Thanks

I think this is early....and not safe as this region is famous for storms and long spells of bad weather !

Congrats 1
You did great job. I saw your images-they are great. You guys had a REAL ADVENTURE out there.

I hope your porter must have regained by now? Are you in contact with him ?
