Karakoram Pass

This Pass divides Indian held territory from China held territory.

You can get a permit to visit this Pass only if you know someone high up in the Army or Delhi.

Even to cross Khardung la and drive upto Sasoma, an inner line permit is required. To trek ahead you will definitely require a permit.

AvidTrekker made it as clear as possible.
You should post this question to some Indian Army forum.

To my great surprise I came across this in The Tribune recently - so it would seem that itīs not entirely impossible to get permits.

What you are referring is the siachen glacier and not KK pass.

I was aware of that , but it still seemed to have some bearing on the subject : trekking where the three borders run close.

The reason was entirely political. More civilian trekkers entering Siachen means more power to the claim that "Siachen is Indian territory" or something like that. I know some two three people who went on this trek. They were experienced mountaineers. They most likely went for the publicity it was to generate.

It stopped there. with just ONE trek.
