Hmmm, I have no idea, maybe you should call up MEA office directly, but I doubt they will help you over the phone.

I hope you dont hold a PIO or an OCI card, because I hear that getting selected then is impossible.

Some news that might interest you. Its about not selecting those who have done this Yatra earlier

Great news! I am selected.

:
I and my hubby got selected for KMY 2012 in batch no. 3.
My friend got wait list in batch 1. She too wants to change the batch and join us. Can she pay amount and send request along letter to MEA to be included in our batch?
@ previous kmy women travelers ,.....how about the monthly problem for young ladies as the yatra covers 30 days?

1. when approximately first information come usually?
Once your name is selected and batch is decided, MEA will send you telegram around 6 to 7 week before group departure date and asking for confirmation amount.
2.will it be possible to manipulate date of journey?
You can try calling MEA number and discussing your case. They may allow it but its upto their discretion.I went in 2009 and there were folks who changed their batch

Once you receive the letter from MEA, send the demand drafts for Rs. 5,000 each without fail. After getting confirmation that your payment has been received, follow-up with e-mail requesting for change of batch.

Chances of getting through are 100% (if not more!). Chances of getting the batch change are also high. Last year my waiting list number was 49. Without any effort, it got confirmed. Also my colleagues requests for batch change have been readily accepted.

Kailash manasarovar yatra 2012

Hi
I along with my husband are selected for 3 rd batch of KMY 2012.
This thread is exclusively for Kmy2012 travellers.
I want to share few important useful info.
1. For all central Govt employees who are selected for the yatra, 1 month special casual leave is sanctioned.G.O number can behead from central Govt. website.
2. The states Gujarat, New Delhi are giving 25,000 Rupees subsidy to selected yatris of their state. Rajasthan state has started giving subsidy of 20,000 Rupees to their state selected yatris.
All selected yatris of this states can avail the subsidy by showing Nativity certificate issued by the Mandal Revenue Officer.
3.This time yatris will have Patal bhuvaneswar Dharsan while going up to Manasarovar, instead of in return journey.
4. Selected list and waiting list of yatris batch wise will be announced today or tomorrow.
5. I contacted with KMY officials and Batch change is allowed provided reasons are genuine.
( it is not like asking for full moon batch)
6. Full moon days fall on 4th June, 3rd July, 2nd & 31of August, 30 th Sept. Visit the itenary details given in http://kmy-2012.webstarts.com/upload...-Itinerary.pdf
Those whose stay of10 days in china will be covered in the full moon dates will have beautiful view of Mt. Kailash & Manassarovar.
7. But as said by one of a past yatri, journey in those days is horrible because rush of pilgrims from private tours via Nepal will make the rates hiked.
Hope this info helps a little bit. I request past yatris to guide usby sharing any valuable suggestions.

After completing the yatra, the following documents need to be submitted as proof of travel along with the prescribed application form:
1. Copy of the China visa of all the yatris in the batch
2. Copy of the passport (which shows date of leaving India and date of coming back in to India - from Tibet)
3. Certificate of yatra completion (given by ITBP and China Govt)

at the following office:
Office of the Commissioner of Religious Affairs, near Tipusultan Palace, Bangalore.
Contact person: Mr. Dinesh, Tel- 080 26709689.

Last year one of our batchmates submitted his subsidy application on 1-Oct-2011. It took exactly 5 months to get his subsidy money.

Short answer: It is a single document for the entire batch - out side of the passports.

Long answer:
MEA collects Rs 400 each from each of the batch members and gets a common visa for all the batch members. This process takes place in the background while the batch is undergoing medical tests at DHLI and ITBP. That means the common visa may contain names of the 60 people that were called for participating in that batch. But owing to failure in meeting the medical and fitness requirements, all 60 people may not be traveling in that batch. (Those people who were not selected for travel after the medical tests will not be paid back their Rs. 400; because that money has already been paid to the China govt.)

Now coming to your questions, yes the common visa is a single document containing up to 6 or 7 pages. This will be given to the Liaison Officer of the batch. (also copies of this document goes to various authorities within India and China for documentation / verification purposes at various instances). Yatris can request for photo-copies of this document for getting subsidy from their respective state govts, and keeping it as a souvenir from this once in a life time yatra (I heard from this year onwards, any person can travel in this route only once!).

You will not find the China visa in your passport. It is a separate document outside of your passport. On the Tibet side, they verify your passport but they do not mark anything in you passport. The only marks you will find in your passport after the yatra are the two stamps that will be put at immigration point at Kalapani.
