Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nepal route
Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nepal route
Hello Everybody,
This is my 1st post on IM but i've been a passive visitor to this community.
I am contemplating the Kailash Mansarovar YAtra this August via the Nepal route by tour operator using 4X4 landcruisers. I know that MEA' KMY is preferred as compared to the Nepal option. But due to paucity of time and other related issues i've limited options.
I have done extensive research on the operators available in INdia & Nepal. Am extremely confused as the rates & itineary quoted by these operators is quite different. Can somebody please help me wrt the following issues;
•Is anybody doing the KMY this year through the Nepal route? Depending on the feasiblity of time & money, I am also considering Kailash + Lhasa + EBC option.
•Please suggest me some good tour operators? Preferably from Mumbai
•Also looking fwd to have partners for the yatra during August/September?
Thanks

In what way is the MEA KMY route preferred.. im trying to figure out.. but have no answers till date...MEA KMY route involves extra trekking over border areas, and takes double the time (about 27days) compared to the Nepal route involving 16days and only the Kaliash parikrama is on foot (logically preferably for most pilgrims).
Cost factor in both cases seem to be the same...
As such how would MEA b preferred.. pls help figure out..
Sorry for the last post...
KMY through GOI is preferred due to the following reasons;
- Acclaimatisation is much better due to gradual scale up in altitude
- travelling in a politically hostile country is much safer thru GOI
- the route is much more scenic & adventorous...
But due to paucity of time and time consuming effort for applying thru MEA, i am considering the Nepal tour operator's route.

Fingers crossed, i will be going to KM yatra early next month. Has anyone been to the KMY through the Nepali / tibetian tour opertors this year. PLease share your feedback about the operators & the trip.
I've heard that there has been several goof-ups by these opertors and many travels were deprived of proper services during the Yatra and were left stranded.
Tnx, expecting prompt response.

When i went a common thing was for the Chinese hotel owners to take double bookings on the rooms for large groups,we got up one morning 7 went down to the hotel reception to find another large group sleeping in the lobby & on the street waiting for us to vacate the hotel,we also had rooms at the hotel which was originally built by Parmath Niketan on the edge of Mansarovar & for 2 days we had to leave the rooms & sleep on the floor of the restaurant room because another group arrived who had booked our rooms.
Apparently to do a proper Yatra,there should be lots of suffering & hardship!!

AF,
I just completed this yatra from Nepal in July through http://www.karnalitours.com/kailash_...var_yatra.html and highly recommend them. But you mentioned that you want to go there next month. Yatra season for Karnali is from May-End of August. You can still contact them and ask for recommendation of other tour operators - very nice folks who're not in for just money but pride them selves helping others.
Another one I had short listed but went with Karnali...http://www.monterosa-nepal.com/kaila...age/index.html again no tour after August.
