Intrepid Treks
Hello,
I am currently looking into which treks interest me and have found that so far, Intrepid seem to be the best value and the best price, I'm curious, has anyone else here done an Intrepid trek to India? I don't think we're game enough to just land in India and find our way etc so a trek it is! Does anyone have any suggestions as far as treks go? TIA! |

Agree b4i, that was not helpful at all. Can't help you with this company (haven't heard of them) - but you've got your post in the right thread. I'll check on it again tomorrow - hopefully by then some of our trekking guru's will have noticed it and can comment. If not - I'll give it a bump to get to the top of the list again.
by the way - welcome to IndiaMike. Usually the answers that are forthcoming are a lot more helpful.....honest! ![]()

If its the same as the company that organizes tours it enjoys a good reputation..

Sounds like you want to go on a Trek with the help of a Trekking Agency. Definitely a good idea when your travel plans are tight and you dont want to get into the hassle of planning. Once u are in India, you shall be able to find several agencies located at Delhi, Rishikesh, Shimla, Manali etc. A quick search on the net might give you a list of names. But your choice of Intrepid does look good. |

report by intrepid traveller in india
I read this (Through the Looking Glass-32 Days in India) on Fodor's web site Asia/India forum (type intrepid travel under "search this forum"). I used intrepid for Thailand and New Zealand after reading this report. I was very pleased with them and will go to India with them hopefully at the end of this year.
Happy reading the report is long but well worth it. |

Trek Agency
Cannot comment on Intrepid. Don't know about them.
If you have questions on specific trek routes in India, AND cannot find them on IndiaMike.... do ask. Will tell you whatever we know Welcome to India !! . .

Hiya...
Unless it's an unusually sophisticated trek, more often than not you don't really need to plan the nitty-gritties of your trek while still outside the country... What I mean is simply this - By all means, go with some trekking agency; but it's best to explore your options once you are here in India... Decide on a destination first; and the season when you will be doing the trek; and the duration you have in mind; the number of people involved, etc etc... There are so many dependent factors... There are quite a few good trekking agencies here which also give you good value for money; and mind you, they are quite sophisticated in what they do - they have the requisite expertise... There are agencies which do groups; and then there are those which add up interested people to make up a group... And then, there are lotsa treks which you can very happily do with a partner or even solo...! And that way, you definitely don't get bogged down with the set itinerary (even if it has been customized to suit your requirements)...! Cheers...! |
