Travel direct to Dhaula

June 16 Travel to Netwar from Dehradun (8-9 hours)
June 17 Travel to Dhaula by jeep and trek to Seewa
June 18 Seewa to Jaakha
June 19 Trek to Upper Rupin valley. At foot of waterfall
June 20 Trek to top of Waterfall.
June 21 Acclimatization; local exploration.
June 22 Cross the pass. Camp site above Sangla Kanda
June 23 Trek to Sangla.
June 24 Return to Shimla via Narkanda

Finally, there are not only lots of possibility of seeing snow. We are worried whether there would be too much of it to make a safe crossing. Want to come along?

On June 16, travel direct DDN to Naitwar to Dhaula. Its just 30 to 40 mins more. Getting a jeep next day at Naitwar will be very difficult. They don't start before 9:00am in most cases. They will charge a minimum of 1000 to 1500 rupess whereas you can go upto Dhaula for the same fare on 16th June.

It will also save you a day.

What time are you reaching Dilli on 15th June to take the night train?? Which train....? Oh yeah you mentioned Mussoorie Exp

Thanks Avid. Had the same plan in mind. Only worried about whether Sumos would have permits until Dhaula. Looks like there shouldn't be any issues.

We are taking the night train to D'dun and in some ways as Dilliwala says, will offset the time saving. However, I notice the Mussoorie express takes an helluva long time to get to D'dun even being a night train. Sad luck.
That's becos it goes halfway to Bihar, i.e. via Bijnor and Najibabad (slip route to Kotdwara), before it loops back to HW and DDN.
Which is why I suggested the 2017A Nizamuddin A/C Special. Fantastic train, even faster than the Shatabdi (if only by 5 mins) and only 3 stops in between. A/c classes only.

Yes, indeed... I recall reaching Haridwar at 04:30, and Uttarkashi by 12:30. By PUBLIC TRANSPORT. I could have gone all the way to Gangotri at that rate.
