Question Information about Rupin Pass

Can any one give me any information about Rupin Pass (also known as Rupin La)? I'm planning to do the trek in June. But I didn't find any route map or trek report of this trek . Had anyone done this trek?
By the way. I have no travel partner yet. So, if any one interested can join me.

Samik

Thanx Andrew,
I have seen those picture....But tell me one thing...I all trek reports to Rupin pass I came across the name of a pass - Nalgan Pass. It's near Rupin...and from google earth it seems not much difficult. I think it will be a beautiful trek...Do you know anything about this route? Or anyone knows about Nalgan pass? Have anyone done this trek so far? I need information about it..
Another thing what is the best time to go for Rupin and Sangla valley...I want lush green valley...[]

Book

You better buy Deepak Sanan's book.

Its the best book on Kinnaur and Spiti trekking.

He mentions Nalgan Ghati but did not cross it.

... a very good choice!
Read also this thread! Uttam mentioned this trail:
Quote:
If u r planning to stay for sometime in the Rupin valley, explore at the possibility of doing Baraadsar lake-Kakurkaanditaal(lake)- Bhedwa waterfall- one more lake(name forgot)Trek. It's 3-4 trek and leads to Sangla too. I don't know if deepak Sanan has mentioned about this sepherd's trail in his book. The route to Barradsar goes from Bitri and Kwaari Villages both. Trail to Bitri village goes from Dhaula while Kwaari can be approached from above Sewa. I could not make it to Barradsar because i had to catch-up with my friends enroute Rupin pass. But i hope someday i,ll return back to dhaula for Baraadsar.

Read more: sangla valley
I'm not sure if this trek leads to Nalgan? But, if you do this trekking, please support us with informations and pics... it's explorer territory!

Sorry Guys for not being able to access Indiamike for sometime!

Klysamik, Avid has mentioned the best source in black and white on Kinnaur. So, go thru the link Andreas has mentioned. You are right in your planning for negotiating Nalgan Pass first and Rupin later. It is very difficult to find someone familier with Nalgan pass in Sangla. September is the good time for the pass. The best time to trek in Kinnaur is between 15th of August to 15th of September. For lots of greenery, donot plan your trek before 3rd week of July. If you venture out in June you will be negotiating plenty of snow.

Take a villager from Pandhar or Jakha as Guide for Nalgan. you can look for services of someone from Jiskon also. Getting a professional Guide for the pass is highly unlikely. However, if you are planning to hire porters, do it before you leave the roadhead.

I am also planning for the Nalgan this Summer. Let's see how it goes. Do give us your feed back about the pass when you are through with it.
There is a shepherd's trail which connects Rupin and Nalgan trails before entering into Kinnaur. This trail starts from Suriwan Pasture before Nalgan pass and crosses over to a pass (Name-sadly i forgot but a Shepherd at Saribasa did mentioned one!In all likelyhood, the pass is unknown to outside world) to arrive at Saribasa pasture of Rupin Valley below the picturesque waterfall. Not many villagers are familiar with the trail. However, a few old Shepherd from Pandhar and Jakha very occasionally use it. I'll be happy if an I-miker tread upon the trail before it completely fall out of use.

Best of Luck n Happy trekking!!!
